Posture Correction
Targeted treatment plans to identify and correct postural imbalances. Useful for patients with forward head posture, rounded shoulders, or spinal curvature concerns.
How we identify postural imbalances
Computerized postural analysis and digital X-rays show us exactly where your posture has shifted, whether that's a forward head, rounded shoulders, or a change in your spinal curve, instead of relying on a visual guess.
That analysis typically compares where key landmarks on your body, like your ear, shoulder, and hip, line up against a vertical reference, so the shift gets measured in a way that can be tracked visit to visit rather than described in general terms like "better" or "worse."
Why posture is more than how you look standing up
Posture is really a reflection of how your spine is holding its structure under everyday load. Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, and a flattened or exaggerated spinal curve all change how weight is distributed through your joints, which is part of why postural problems so often show up as headaches, neck tension, or upper back pain rather than as posture itself.
"Text neck," the rounded, head-forward posture that comes from looking down at a phone for hours a day, is one of the more common patterns we see across age groups, from teenagers to office workers to retirees who spend a lot of time reading or on a tablet.
What a correction plan includes
CBP treats posture and alignment as the actual goal of care, not a side effect of it. Plans typically combine mirror-image adjusting, postural traction, and strength work targeted at holding the new position.
Who this is for
- Forward head posture from screen time
- Rounded shoulders
- Spinal curvature concerns, including scoliosis monitoring
- Chronic postural strain from years at a desk
- Athletes and desk workers wanting to address postural strain before it becomes painful
Why North River
Progress is tracked with follow-up imaging and postural checks, so you can see the structural change, not just feel a temporary difference after a visit.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can posture actually be corrected as an adult?+
In many cases, yes, though it takes a structured plan over time rather than a single adjustment. We'll be honest with you about what's realistic after your exam.
How do you measure posture progress?+
With computerized postural analysis and follow-up digital X-rays compared against your starting point.
Is posture correction just for people with pain?+
No. Some patients come in for pain, others simply want to correct forward head posture or rounded shoulders before it becomes a bigger problem.
Do you monitor scoliosis?+
Yes, ongoing monitoring and structural care to manage curvature over time is part of what we offer.
Will posture correction fix rounded shoulders permanently?+
It can meaningfully improve the position long term, but posture is also a daily habit. The plan includes exercises to help you hold the correction outside of your visits, not just during them.
